Scott Wong Moves to Hawaii

Former Pepperdine All-American and men's assistant coach Scott Wong has taken a position as the associate head coach of the Hawaii women's program, the Honolulu Advertiser reports. Wong left Pepperdine after the spring 2009 season to become the women's associate head coach at San Francisco, and now he's headed home to Hawaii.

Golfweek Blog Puts Pepperdine's Kang in Top Five

Thanks to her victory at last week's Bruin Wave Invitational, Danielle Kang appears at #5 in the top women's golf players in the nation right now in Asher Wildman's Golfweek blog.

J.D. Schleppenbach Featured in Ventura County Star

Men's volleyball standout J.D. Schleppenbach, who was recently named the MPSF co-Player of the Week, is the subject of a feature in today's Ventura County Star. After a lot of injuries, he's trying to have a healthy 2010 season and help the Waves hold on to their #1 national ranking.

Baseball News & Notes

Pepperdine baseball is the midst of a big week, beating highly ranked UC Irvine on Tuesday before falling to defending national champion LSU today. They'll get another crack at the Tigers later in the weekend. Here's a story previewing the LSU series from The Advocate. MacDonell, Moses Aid US Effort vs. Canada

Former Pepperdine water polo All-Americans JP MacDonell and Merrill Moses had big games on Wednesday for the USA National Team, although the result was a 6-5 loss to Canada in the Volvo Cup in Hungary. MacDonell scored two goals and Moses made six saves. Here is the USA Water Polo press release.

Pepperdine water polo All-American JP MacDonell is with the USA National Team in Europe right now. In preparation for the Volvo Cup in Hungary, the U.S. took on Germany in an exhibition and MacDonell scored two goals, according to the USA Water Polo press release.

Miranda Ayim Featured on WCC TV

Pepperdine women's basketball player Miranda Ayim, who is having an outstanding senior season and may break the school season and career records for blocked shots, was interviewed for a recent edition of WCC TV and the Road to Las Vegas.

Dennis Johnson a Finalist for Hall of Fame Again

Help Get Dennis Johnson Into the Hall of Fame

A couple of NBA D-League teams are beginning a campaign to get former Pepperdine and NBA star Dennis Johnson elected to the Basketball Hall of Fame. The Austin Toros (of which Johnson was head coach at the time of his death in 2007) and the Maine Red Claws (an affiliate of the Boston Celtics) are teaming up to make this happen. Noah Lowry to Hold Workout Next Week

Stephen Goff of examiner.com is reporting this morning that Pepperdine's Noah Lowry will be holding hold a private workout for interested teams next Tuesday in Phoenix. Lowry last pitched in the big leagues in 2007 but has undergone several surgeries since then. Twelve MLB teams are expected to attend the session.
