Kaitlin Drolson Featured in Del Mar Times

Kaitlin Drolson, a sophomore on the Pepperdine women's golf team, was featured in the Del Mar Times last week with regards to how well she's playing, both for the Waves and as an amateur at various professional events.

The Pepperdine women's golf team is currently ranked #4 in the Golfweek/Sagarin index. Julie Williams of Golfweek writes about the large pool of candidates that could win the 2010 national championship, which includes the Waves.

Newhan Using Surfing Accident To Glorify God

Former Pepperdine baseball player and ex-major leaguer David Newhan was in a surfing accident last fall, in which he broke three bones in his C2 vertebrae - an injury referred to as a hangman's break. Smith Talks Amazing Race With USA Today

Former Pepperdine infielder and current Cleveland Indians coach Steve Smith talked with AP sports writer Tom Withers about his experiences on The Amazing Race. Smith and his daughter, Pepperdine graduate Allie Smith, are contestants on the current season of the popular CBS reality show where teams of two chase around the world for a $1 million prize. Watch Thursday's Women's Hoops Game on BYU TV

Wave Casts subscribers will certainly want to listen in to Pepperdine's broadcast of Thursday's WNIT game at Brigham Young (especially because the author of this post will be the announcer). Drolson One Step Closer to LPGA Event

Kaitlin Drolson, a sophomore on the women's golf team, finished second at a pre-qualifying tournament for the Kia Classic presented by J Golf, an LPGA event held at the La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, earlier this week. Only the top two players at the pre-qualifier moved on to the next qualifying round, which is on March 22. The top two from that qualifier will move on to the full event, set for March 25-28. Drolson previously qualified for the 2009 U.S. Women's Open.

Scott Wong Moves to Hawaii

Former Pepperdine All-American and men's assistant coach Scott Wong has taken a position as the associate head coach of the Hawaii women's program, the Honolulu Advertiser reports. Wong left Pepperdine after the spring 2009 season to become the women's associate head coach at San Francisco, and now he's headed home to Hawaii.

Golfweek Blog Puts Pepperdine's Kang in Top Five

Thanks to her victory at last week's Bruin Wave Invitational, Danielle Kang appears at #5 in the top women's golf players in the nation right now in Asher Wildman's Golfweek blog.
